Pennington Gap, Va.-Pauline Holton Wingate went to rest with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at the age of 97. She was a resident at Lee Health and Rehab in Pennington Gap, where she passed.
She was born in Fort Barnwell, NC on July 24, 1925, to the late Isaac L. Holton and Jack Ann Jones Holton.
She was a member of Living Waters Christian Fellowship in Chesapeake, Va., where she faithfully attended church until her later years. She spent later years with her daughter and son-in-law in Lee County, Va.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 74 years, Sherman S. Wingate, Sr.; and her oldest son, Sherman S. Wingate, Jr.
Left to cherish her memory are: daughters, Annette Johnson (Bruce) of Pennington Gap and Paula Klender (Jim) of Bryan, OH; sons, Isaac Wingate (Sharon) and Ken Wingate (Judy), both of Portsmouth, Va.
She will be missed by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, as well as her nieces, nephews and many friends, all of whom she dearly loved.

The family will receive friends from 11:00am – 11:30am on Thursday, January, 26, 2023, at Gilliam Funeral Home, 618 Wood Ave., W., Big Stone Gap, Va. The service will begin at 11:30am with Rev. Billy McDonald and Rev. Bruce Johnson officiating.
Burial will follow at Lee Memorial Gardens, Woodway, Va.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Victory Freewill Baptist Church, Jonesville, Va., will provide family and friends with a meal after the committal service.
