Jimmy Clay Kennedy
Big Stone Gap, Va.-Jimmy Clay Kennedy, 57, passed away on Monday, March 4, 2024, at his home.
Born in Dickenson County, Va., he attended Clintwood schools. He was the second oldest of five children. He loved woodworking and scenery painting He loved to fish. He was always the jokester. Jimmy loved spending time with his family, especially his grandson, Stryder. He was on the board of the Junction Center for Independent Living in Big Stone Gap. He was very active at his church, Oak Grove Baptist Church, and loved participating in any church activity he was able to attend.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alderson and Goldie (Pannell) Kennedy; and three siblings.
Surviving are his wife of 11 years, Cathy Kennedy; daughter, Britteny Cassell and her fiancé, Brian Rose, Jr.; special grandson, Stryder Warf; Brian Rose’s son, Elijah Rose; sister, Sandra Margie Mullins and husband Jeff; and several nieces and nephews.
The memorial service will be conducted 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at the Oak Grove Baptist Church, 14 E. 11th St., N., Big Stone Gap, Va.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the charity that was close to Jimmy’s heart: Paralyzed Veterans of America, Office of Individual Giving, 1875 Eye St NW, Suite 1100, Washington, DC 20006.
