Harper Jean Oakley
East Stone Gap, Va.-Harper Jean Oakley, age two months and one day, passed away into the arms of Jesus on Monday, August 3, 2020 at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, Va.
She was born in Charlottesville on June 2, 2020. In her short time here, she captured the hearts of many. Harper had a fighting spirit, through all her struggles. She is now a true child of God.
She was preceded in death by her paternal great grandfather, Jerry Oakley; maternal great grandparents, Donald Jay and Thelma Horner; and aunt, Pamela Oakley Kennedy.
Harper is survived by her parents, Tyler Oakley and Jessica Horner; brother, Alijah Jenkins, of the home; paternal grandparents, Chris and Carla Oakley, Jonesville, Va.; maternal grandparents, Allen and Kim Horner, Big Stone Gap, Va.; paternal great grandparents, Carl and Katherine Lawson, and Mary Sexton (Don); maternal great grandparents, Garrett and Beverly Lee; and aunts, Taylor Falin (Justin), Kalee Horner (fiancé, Daniel Blair), Kyndra Horner, Taryn Oakley and Brooklyn Walker.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Saturday, August 8, 2020, at Gilliam Funeral Home, 618 Wood Avenue, W., Big Stone Gap, Va. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Johnny Aistrop officiating.
Committal graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Sunday at Lee Memorial Gardens in Woodway, Va. The family and friends will meet at Gilliam Funeral Home by 10:15 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery.
