Appalachia, VA -Donna Renee Ramey, 57, passed away Thursday, October 05, 2023 at her home in the Derby Community, surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born in Robbins Chapel, Va. and had lived in the Derby community for 24 years. Renee was an administrative assistant for Wellmont/Ballad Health in Norton, VA. Renee loved traveling, her church, and especially her grandkids. She was a member of Deep Springs Missionary Baptist Church, where she led Operation Christmas Shoebox Ministry.
Renee was preceded in death by a grandson, Rylen Barker-Ramey; her father, Guy Phillips; and a brother, Kip Phillips.
She is survived by her loving husband of 24 years, James Ramey; children: Derrick Collins (Maggie), Derby, VA, James Ramey I (Demaris), Kingsport, Tn., Taylor Ramey (Megan), Roda, Va.; seven grandchildren, Halli Collins, Bryce Ramey, Gracie Ramey, Oakley Ramey, Kaiden Ramey, Karli Ramey and Kylie Ramey; her mother, Nancy Phillips, Pennington Gap,VA; siblings, Rick Phillips (Katie), Deep Springs, Va., Thomas Phillips (Amanda) and Melissa Snodgrass (Dan), both of Jonesville, Va., Dewayne Phillips (Teresa), La Follette, Tn. and Mark Phillips (Angie Clark), Keokee, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 11:00am – 1:00pm Sunday, October 8, 2023, at Gilliam Funeral Home, 618 Wood Ave., W., Big Stone Gap, Va. The service will follow at 1:00pm with the Pastor Rick Phillips officiating.
Burial will follow at Powell Valley Cemetery, Dryden, Va.
The family will serve as pallbearers.
