Appalachia, Va.-Billy Harold “Frog” Cline, Jr., 74, passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at Norton Community Hospital, following an extended illness.
He was a lifelong resident of Appalachia, Va. He was a U. S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and was a member of the John Fox, Jr. VFW Post 5715. He worked for Cline Transfer for nearly 25 years. He loved to golf, billiards (shooting pool) and watching football. He was a Christian.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Billy H. and Julia (McMahan) Cline, Sr.; siblings, Danny Cline, Sr., Ruth Ann Cline and John Wayne Cline; and longtime companion, Kathy Johnson.
Surviving are his siblings, Robert Cline, Sr. (Barbara), Afton, Tn., Patricia Cline and Carroll Gollaway (Thomas), both of Big Stone Gap, Va.; and Charlie Cline, Appalachia, Va.; several nieces and nephews; and a special young lady, Kathy Johnson’s daughter, Ashley Johnson.
The family will receive friends from 12 noon – 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at Gilliam Funeral Home, 618 Wood Ave, W., Big Stone Gap, Va. Military rites by the Wise County VFW and DAV groups will be accorded at 2:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life Service will follow with Pastor Johnny Flanary officiating.
