Barry Cheryl Aistrop

Big Stone Gap, Va.-Barry Cheryl Aistrop, 78, passed away and was peacefully redeemed by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 3, 2025 at his home in Big Stone Gap, VA.
Barry was born in Appalachia, VA, where he grew up, attended school, played football and lived most of his life. He was a retired coal miner (Arch of KY), U. S. Air Force Veteran, and a longtime member of Appalachia Pentecostal Church. He was a skilled craftsman that liked to make coal carvings, paint pictures, restore old bicycles with his brother Rodney and was gifted with the ability to work on most anything. He loved spending time with family and friends at cookouts, family get-togethers and other events.
Barry was preceded in death by his parents, Everette and Winnie Aistrop; brothers, Darrel, William, and Rodney Aistrop; sister, Shelia Kilbourne; nieces, Cathy Kilbourne and Monica Lane; nephews, Little Phillip Kilbourne and Brian Ball; brothers-in-law, Phillip Ralph Kilbourne and Frank Ball.
Barry is survived by wife, Bobbie Aistrop; children, April (David) Davidson, Appalachia, VA; Barry (Amy) Aistrop, Keokee, VA; and Matthew Aistrop, Big Stone Gap, VA; grandson, Cody Davidson, Appalachia, VA; sisters, Dana Ball, Big Stone Gap, VA, Geneva (Ralph) Hamilton, Big Stone Gap, VA; brother, Bige (Judy) Aistrop, Big Stone Gap, VA; sisters-in-law Phyllis Aistrop, Big Stone Gap, VA and Betty Aistrop, Big Stone Gap, VA; and several nieces and nephews.
Due to inclement weather, the family will receive friends 11:00am - 1:00pm Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at Gilliam Funeral Home, 618 Wood Ave., W., Blg Stone Gap, Va. The service will follow at 1:00pm with Randel Blair officiating.
Military rites, by the Shaw AFB Honors Team and local VFW and DAV posts, will be accorded at the funeral home.
