Roda, VA. On Christmas Day 2012 God chose his Christmas present when His Angels came and gathered Candace Elkins into their arms and carried her up to heaven where she was joyfully reunited with her maternal grandparents, Cossie and Lona Owsley and her paternal grandfather, Emerson Freeman, her loved ones who have preceded her in death. Candy was a loving wife, mother, and daughter and leaves behind her husband of 17 years, Mike Elkins of Roda, one son, Braxton of Big Stone Gap, and one daughter, Micah of Roda, VA., her mother and father, Gerald and Darlene Freeman of Wise, VA.. her paternal grandmother, Ada Freeman of Wise, Va. also her brother, Jerry Freeman and wife Ronda of Roda, VA. and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends Thursday (Dec 27, 2012) from 6 to 8 P.M. at Gilliam Funeral Home, 618 Wood Ave., Big Stone Gap, VA. Funeral services will follow in the chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Tony Nunley officiating.
Graveside services will be Friday (Dec 28, 2012) at 11:00 am
A.M., in the Powell Valley Memorial Gardens, Big Stone Gap, VA. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
