Appalachia, VA – Jeffrey Clayton Lane passed away Sunday, November 18, 2018, at his residence. He was a 1976 graduate of Appalachia High School and previously employed by Westmoreland Coal Company. Jeff currently was employed at A & A Security Co. and he attended Church of Christ in Big Stone Gap. Jeff had a passion for cars and being in the outdoors, but he especially loved spending time with his wife and family. He loved riding
4-weelers with his father and family. Jeff never knew a stranger. He loved everyone and would help anyone.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Lane of the home; his children, Chad Lane (Laura) of Dryden, Jessica Thomas (Adam) Gate City, Travis Lane (Sarah) Dryden, Derek Gibson and Tanner Lane of the home; his parents, Jack and Stella (Skorupa) Lane, Appalachia; his sisters, Renee Patterson (Dylan Farmer) Big Stone Gap and Tamra Franklin (Cliff), Church Hill, TN and his grandchildren, Hunter Lane, Leah Lane, Zackary Lane, Lauryn Thomas and Lexi Thomas; father and mother-in- law, John and Mavis Davis, Appalachia. Also several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Friday, November 23, 2018, from 5:00 to 7:00pm at Gilliam Funeral Home, 618 Wood Ave. W, Big Stone Gap, VA. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 7:00pm with Pastor Garrett Lee officiating.
Graveside services will be private.
