Sallie Yvonne “Von” Isbell, 77, went to her heavenly home Wednesday (Feb. 6, 2019) at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, Tn., surrounded by her family.
She was born and raised in Pine Mountain, KY (Harlan Co.) and lived most of her life in Big Stone Gap, Va. In her twenties, she served as a police officer in Harlan, Ky. She was a member of Peterson Chapel Church in Duffield, Va.
Mrs. Isbell was a loyal, devoted wife and mother. She was the rock and glue that held her family together.
She was preceded in death by twin infants, and her parents, Fred and Ethel (Harris) Middleton.
Surviving are her husband of 60 years, Stanley “Stan” Isbell; two sons, Steve Isbell (Tanya) and Cody Isbell; two daughters, Kimra “Kim” Miller and Lauren Isbell; ten grandchildren, Steven Isbell (Miranda), Ashley, Nicole, Jimmy, Haley, Kierstin, Caden, Adam, Jayden and Bella; three great grandchildren, Colton, Tyler and Camara; two brothers, Billy Fred Middleton and Mick Middleton, both of Bledsoe, Ky.; one sister, Susie Middleton of Bledsoe, KY; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Saturday (Feb. 9, 2019) from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Gilliam Funeral Home (618 Wood Ave, W.) in Big Stone Gap.
The funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor James Holcomb officiating.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home by 1:30 p.m. to go in procession to the cemetery.
