Pennington Gap, Va. – Roy Howard Simpson, 44, went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 17, 2018 at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, TN, following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born and raised in Marion, Va. and had lived in Pennington Gap for the past 21 years. He was a 1992 graduate of Marion Senior High School, graduate of Emory & Henry College in 1996 with a B. S. in Psychology and obtained his Master’s in Education from Lindsey-Wilson College. Roy was an Eagle Scout. He was presently employed with Family Preservation Services as a Regional Director and prior to that was employed with Frontier Health. He was a board member of the Family Assessment and Planning Team in Lee County, VA and the Community Policy and Management Team in Scott County, VA. He was Vice-President of the Lee County Soccer Association.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert “Buck” Simpson.
Surviving are his wife, Shellie Seals Simpson; one daughter, Sydney Simpson, of the home, two sons, Dakota (Chelsea) Simpson, of the home and Matthew Hess of Pennington Gap; mother, Helen Simpson-Eggert of Marion, Va.; three sisters, Pamela (Steve) Willis, and twin sister, Amanda (Joe) Carter, both of Marion, and Samantha “Sam” (Chuck) Javins of Chilhowie, Va.; granddaughter, Baby Lilly; sisters-in-law, Shanda (C. J.) Hutton of Marion, Ashley Hess of Keokee, Va. and Kayla Hess of Jonesville, Va.; brother-in-law, Skyler Webb of Jonesville, Va.; father and mother-in-law, David and Theda Seals, Jonesville, Va.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 12 Noon-2 p.m. Saturday (September 22, 2018) at the Friendship Baptist Church (28979 Wilderness Road) in Jonesville, Va. 24263.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. in the church sanctuary with Pastor Doug Odle officiating.
